Pablo Eguzkiza and Telmo Rodríguez have been resuscitating vines in Galicia’s Val do Xil since 2002 - adding young viñador Jorge Saa in 2014 to lead winemaking. Lugar du Valbuxan - named for the granite house they renovated where wine has been made for over 300 years - is a grand cru field blend grown in ancient, decomposed granitic soils of up to 100 year old, bush trained, indigenous varietals mencía, brancellao, sousón, garnacha tintorera, and merenzao, all farmed organically on the slopes of the Sil river. Harvesting is done by hand to small crates and then fermented spontaneously in foudres, then aged for 12 months in old 1500L and 225L French barrels before bottling, unfiltered
