Paolo Bea San Valentino Umbria Rosso 2020

Produced from the 50 year old San Valentino vineyard planted in clay dominant soils in Montefalco at 1300 feet above sea level.  Made up of 70% Sangiovese with the remainder equally divided between Sagrantino and Montepulciano. Hand harvested during the last third of October under a waning moon (Bea believes this reduces the chance of rot) the grapes are macerated together for a month before racking and malolactic conversion, then gravity fed into steel tanks to age for 3 years. The wine is then rested up to an additional year in bottle prior to release
