Nicoletto Pecorelli and Francesco Ferreri make wine on Ferreri’s native Pantelleria, a 32 mile island in the Mediterranean closer to Tunisia than to Italy.  With minimal rainfall, Zibibbo bush vines are trained in a manner devised by the Phoenicians, bowls dug out around the base, while roots often reach down up to 6 meters in search of nutrients in soils made mostly of pumice and volcanic sands - soki in the local dialect. They hand harvest from 11 plots scattered among 6 villages, press manually using a basket press and ferment on fine lees in wood and steel before bottling.
